The Beginner

I started off painting furniture, mainly children’s furniture. Painting something on canvas felt very intimidating. It took me a while to give it a try but once I did I was hooked. Slowly I started trying other things like charcoal sketching and oils. But my greatest love is acrylic paints. I still like painting furniture and painting on wood planks. As long as the music is up loud and I can dance around while I paint, I’ll try anything. Making dream catchers is another favorite. I made one 6 feet tall once, it was amazing. When people began taking an interest in my work it was the most incredible feeling, hard to put into words. So thank you to all that have my work hanging on their walls. It is an incredible honor that I do not take lightly.

Why I Paint

I paint every day. And most places I go I bring brushes, paint and something to paint on. Painting grounds me, and with loud rock and roll playing and Nag Champa incense burning the scene is complete. Painting gives me a sense of calm and exhilaration t at the same time. Though it can be quite difficult with a cat chewing on the end of my paint brush! There is something magical about creating. It lets you share parts of yourself that you couldn’t otherwise. I think any kind of artistic expression whether it’s music, poetry, photography, it’s all about having a conversation.
